About this survey

My next book "Beyond Beauty" will be a practical guide to body confidence in the social media era. To make sure it reflects a diverse spectrum of experiences, I want to include as many different voices as possible in the form of quotes throughout the book.

If you want to contribute, simply fill out this little survey to share your own thoughts and stories. Feel free to answer in as much or as little detail as you like and skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. I am grateful for every contribution!

If one of your quotes makes it into the book, I will send you your own personal copy fresh off the printers (you’ll get it way before the official release date).

Your answers will remain 100% anonymous: your name, age, address or anything else that could identify you will not be included in the book. Your IP address will not be recorded. I will ask you for your email address at the end of the survey, but only for the sole purpose of getting your mailing address should your quote be selected for the book.

This survey will stay up until the 15th of March. If you have any questions, send me an email at anuschka@into-mind.com.

* 1. According to studies, three out of four women do not like the way they look. What do you think are the biggest reasons for that?

* 2. To what extent do you think social media influences how you feel about the way you look?

* 3. What do you like about your appearance and what parts do you feel self-conscious about? Do you have an insecurity that others can’t understand at all?

* 4. Has your confidence in regard to your looks ever changed considerably in either direction?  What triggered that change?

* 5. Do you ever think your life would be different if you were more attractive? If so, in what ways?

* 6. In your opinion, how have your experiences in your childhood and the way your parents raised you influenced how you feel about your appearance today?

* 7. Do you ever feel self-conscious about the way you look in photos? And if you post photos of yourself on social media: How much work do you put into your selfies and why? Think posing, filters, taking multiple shots, photo-editing and so on.

* 8. Are there any activities that you often avoid because you would feel insecure about your looks? Have you ever turned town an invitation or an opportunity because of worries related to your appearance?

* 9. Many women make efforts to cover-up what they feel self-conscious about on a daily basis. For example, some won't leave the house without make up that covers their acne or wear long sleeves even in the summer. Are there any aspects of your appearance that you keep hidden or covered up most of the time?

* 10. Have you ever experienced body shaming? How did it make you feel and how did you react?

* 11. What is your experience with diets and your general relationship with food? Do you follow certain guidelines for eating or track your food in any way?

* 13. How do you feel about the prospect of growing and looking older? Are you doing anything right now to prevent signs of aging?

* 14. Do you think the fact that cosmetic surgery (including non-invasive procedures like botox or lip fillers) is becoming more and more accepted is helping or hurting women's body image? Do you have any personal experience with cosmetic surgery?

* 15. Is there anything else you would like to share on the topic of body image?
