“Building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace is crucial to our success. When we bring all values and perspectives to the table and give everyone a voice, we foster an inclusive environment for our employees which empowers us to be more innovative for our customers. But our work does not stop there. This commitment also extends to the communities where we live and work. I am honored to be leading this journey at SurveyMonkey.”

Diversity

This includes all the ways that individuals or groups are uniquely different from one another. At SurveyMonkey, we embrace a broader definition of diversity that not only includes race, ethnicity, and gender but also includes age, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, education, marital status, language, and all the other things that influence our ideas, values, and perspectives.

Equity

Everyone has access to the same opportunities to grow, thrive, and do their best work. We recognize that advantages and barriers exist for some groups, and therefore we don’t all start from the same place. We’re committed to creating an environment where everyone has an equal opportunity to grow their career and feel free to truly be themselves.

Inclusion

This is fostered by an environment where any individual or group can feel welcomed, respected, valued, and empowered to succeed. We are committed to creating a workplace that respects and celebrates the differences of every member of our Troop.

Our commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace is unwavering.  We are proud of our progress to date but want to do more, which is why we are putting a stake in the ground and setting short and long-term goals for the representation of women and people of color in our Troop.  Just as we set goals for every other aspect of our business, we do the same to attract and grow talent from diverse backgrounds. We choose to make these goals public to help hold ourselves accountable and to help us get input and ideas from others in the industry.

We embrace intersectionality and strive to be an industry leader in cultivating diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforces.  No workplace can be truly diverse, equitable, and inclusive without recognizing our employees who identify as non-binary or gender non-conforming.  Our 2024 goal is to achieve gender parity for males and females in our workplace, while also including representation from the gender non-conforming and non-binary community.

We have dedicated groups of employees in various offices that drive locally relevant events, programming, and training to foster an inclusive work environment in their office and the local community. We currently have five of these groups based in San Mateo, Portland, Ottawa, Dublin, and Amsterdam.

Our employee resource groups help us build community across the globe. These groups are voluntary and employee-led around a shared interest or common goal, to which individuals formally or informally belong. ERGs have distinct goals tied to SurveyMonkey for Good’s focus areas and/or the business. Above all, they are dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment for everyone. We currently have five ERGs:

Founded to support Black and Latinx employees at SurveyMonkey, Blatinos aims to push for the professional development of its members, partner with other organizations, and bring awareness to the challenges faced by the Black and Latinx communities today.

Mosaic strives to strengthen the experiences and advancement of Asians in the workplace through increasing awareness of our diverse and multicultural community, fostering connections, and promoting professional development.

This group aims to create an accepting and inclusive environment that serves the needs and interests of all SurveyMonkey employees and the surrounding communities regardless of gender identity and sexual orientation.

This group works to further the careers of self-identified female engineers and allows them to feel supported in their current roles.

WIN’s goal is to strengthen women in the workplace through educational programs, partnerships, and events that provide information, connections, resources, and opportunities.

At SurveyMonkey we don’t just want to build diversity and inclusion into our own business--we want to help support positive change in the workforce as a whole. Our Inclusion & Belonging survey template helps businesses of all sizes measure and understand inclusiveness within their organization so they can take proactive steps toward change.

Our guide, How to measure Diversity and Inclusion for a stronger workplace, was designed with input from experts in the D&I space and includes end-to-end instructions for building a program that helps your company thrive.

To truly deliver for our customers, our Troop needs to reflect the communities we serve. We believe in equal rights, equal pay, and equal opportunity within our workplace and in the broader communities where we live and work. We will actively advocate against actions—both internal or external—that conflict with these values.
